Transportation
For
every gallon of gasoline used, our cars release roughly 20 pounds
of greenhouse gases. In the Puget Sound region, cars and trucks contribute
more greenhouse gas emissions than any other source. Choices we make
about the kind of cars we buy, how often we drive, or how far we
travel each day can have a direct impact on the levels of greenhouse
gases that enter our air.
In this section, students will learn to calculate the climate impact of the transportation choices made by people at their school; how fuel economy can affect greenhouse gas emission levels; and about different strategies for reducing those emissions.
